MEET THE ARTIST at Unity in the Matakana Village

Mike is bringing his latest artwork to UNITY this Saturday!

All of which are available for you to curate for your home.

Come and meet Mike, have a korero and enjoy the inspiration of his creations.

Mike Paora the artist behind SOMg an anagram for ‘Straight Out Of My Garage’ was born out of a distaste for the wastefulness of the building industry where he spent most of his working career as a seasoned carpenter.

His modern and skilfully designed timber art pieces are all constructed from salvaged timbers and materials, breathing in new life into these materials.

His work highlights the inherent beauty of these unique timbers, many of which are no longer readily available. Inspired by his cultural heritage and a deep respect for nature, Mike’s creations reflect his commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship.

Residing in Whangarei and of Ngāpuhi and Ngāti Tuwharetoa descent he continues to create pieces that showcase the charm and characteristics of Aotearoa’s native timbers

We are proud to stock a curated collection of his pieces and look forward to sharing the Unity Space with him this Saturday at the Matakana Village
