Te Matatini 2025: Celebrating Kotahitanga
Te Matatini is more than a competition—it is a movement. A space where kapa haka becomes a living expression of whakapapa, wairua, and the strength of our people.
This year, under the protection of our beautiful Maunga Taranaki, rōpū from across Aotearoa—and even from across the Tasman—gathered in Taranaki to celebrate the theme “We Belong”. A powerful reminder that unity, kotahitanga, is at the heart of who we are.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Te Kapa Haka o Ngāti Whakaue, who were crowned Toa Whakaihuwaka, the overall champions of Te Matatini o Te Kāhui Maunga 2025. Their performance was a breathtaking showcase of precision, wairua, and storytelling—honouring the depth of kapa haka as both an art form and a legacy.
We also acknowledge the outstanding achievements of all rōpū who took the stage, bringing with them the mana of their tūpuna and the strength of their iwi. Every performance was a testament to the resilience, pride, and excellence of our people.
At Unity Collection, we see this same spirit reflected in Māori artistry. Just as haka and waiata carry our histories forward, so too do the works of our Māori designers, artists, and creators. Every piece—whether woven, carved, or crafted—holds whakapapa, wairua, and a deep connection to this land. As we carry the wairua of Te Matatini beyond the festival, we invite you to do the same.
